Size limits for Twitter card images
14 Jun 2021I relearned today that if you’re using an image for a Twitter card, the largest that image size can be is 2 MB. (I have some posts from 2018 on Twitter cards, how to get them going for a Jekyll site is here).
I have not ever found this limit documented anywhere, just from trial and error over at the Twitter Card Validator. When searching for some documentation today, one site said the limit is 1 MB, which, well I got it to work with a 2MB image. It seems that no one outside of Twitter the company knows what the settings are at Twitter for different options, so all of the companies that support social media campaigns try to figure it out via observation.
